I offer editorial and publishing consultation specifically geared toward magazine-length work. Getting one high-profile magazine story published can be the first step to a book contract. It can open doors with other magazine editors and publishing outlets. For many writers, it’s an easier place to start than writing a book proposal or drafting several chapters on spec. Some of the stories I have edited have gone on to become books. I am available to read drafts and offer advice on what would make your story more publishable, as well as which outlets might be interested in publishing it. I offer critiques, developmental editing, and line editing services. And once your piece is published, I can help bring attention to your work through my network of magazine and book editors, literary agents, and through social media channels. My expertise spans from personal essay and memoir to long and short-form narrative journalism and everything in between. I also edit short fiction, as well work (both fiction and nonfiction) that falls in the e-single range (too long to be a magazine story but too short to be a book).
